Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic pathology laboratory team as a Lab Accessioner and Grossing Technician, where you'll play a vital role in the preparation and processing of tissue specimens for diagnostic analysis. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment dedicated to advancing patient care through precise specimen handling, meticulous documentation, and efficient workflow management. Your contributions will directly support accurate diagnoses and impactful medical research, making a meaningful difference in healthcare outcomes. Duties Accurately receive, label, and document incoming tissue specimens ensuring proper identification and chain-of-custody. Prepare specimens for gross examination by performing initial dissections, measurements, and tissue processing following established protocols. Maintain detailed records of specimen accessioning, processing steps, and storage locations to ensure traceability. Assist pathologists during grossing procedures by providing necessary tools and ensuring a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Follow laboratory safety procedures diligently, including proper handling of biohazardous materials and maintaining a clean workspace. Collaborate with research teams to process specimens for experimental purposes, adhering to specific research protocols. Support quality control initiatives by verifying specimen integrity and documenting any discrepancies or issues encountered during processing. Experience Prior clinical laboratory experience or research laboratory experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of laboratory procedures including specimen collection, processing, and storage techniques. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathology concepts relevant to tissue handling. Experience with phlebotomy or patient care activities such as obtaining vital signs is a plus. Understanding of laboratory techniques such as aseptic technique and proper specimen preservation methods. Hospital or healthcare facility experience can enhance your ability to navigate clinical environments effectively. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to follow detailed protocols are essential for success in this role. $22.47 - $27.07 per hour
