The laboratory technologist/technician performs various chemical and microscopic and bacteriological tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases; receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis; applies techniques used in fields of bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, serology, and chemical examinations; records laboratory test results, orders supplies in the absence of Laboratory Manager when necessary; performs quality control and proficiency testing in various sections of the laboratory; and performs phlebotomy.

Medical Laboratory Technician Iraan, TX 79744 Description To define the role and responsibilities of the laboratory technologist/technician to satisfy the requirements of the accrediting agencies.The laboratory technologist/technician performs various chemical and microscopic and bacteriological tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases; receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis; applies techniques used in fields of bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, serology, and chemical examinations; records laboratory test results, orders supplies in the absence of Laboratory Manager when necessary; performs quality control and proficiency testing in various sections of the laboratory; and performs phlebotomy.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Duties /Responsibilities:
Performs accurate laboratory tests and analyses to assist in patient diagnosis and care. Collects and handles specimens safely following infection control procedures. Provides patient care using lab processes as a framework, prioritizing identified needs. Participates in the orientation, training, and education of new staff, students, and consumers. Assists in developing and revising lab policies, data collection, and special projects. Projects a positive, professional image supporting the organizations goals and values. Perform other duties as assigned.Key Responsibilities Sample Preparation:
Collect and prepare biological samples (blood, urine, feces) for testing.Conduct Test:
Perform laboratory procedures and tests, including serological, bacteriological, biochemical, hematological, andmicrobiological.Analyze Results:
Analyze test results and report findings to medical professionals, ensuring compliance with safety and qualitystandards.Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and perform quality control procedures to ensureaccuracy.Documentation:
Verify, record, and report lab results, maintaining proper records for quality control and compliance with regulations.Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities:
Provide primary, episodic patient care to individuals of all ages. Utilizes lab processes as framework for patient care. Provide care based upon identified needs in a prioritized manner. Projects a positive decisive image in support of the philosophy, goals and objectives of IGH.Qualifications/Education and Experience:
Education:
Associate or bachelors degree in medical laboratory science or a related field.Certification:
National certification (e.g., ASCP, AMT, NAACLS) or eligibility, with completion expected within six (6) months of hire.Experience:
One (1) year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist or Technician in the United States preferred; new graduates will be considered but must pass a certifying exam within six (6) months of employment.Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; high attention to detail; ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Additional requirements: Current BLS certification.Working Conditions:
