Bilingual Family Practice Lab Technician We are seeking an experienced Bilingual Lab Technician to join our team. Laboratory Technician - Job Responsibilities The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing and assisting with laboratory testing and specimen collection in a busy family medicine practice. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent patient-care skills, and the ability to follow established laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection safely and professionally. Collect, label, process, prepare, and properly store patient specimens according to established procedures. Perform waived and/or moderate-complexity point-of-care laboratory testing within the scope of the practice and employee qualifications. Perform laboratory testing such as urinalysis, urine pregnancy testing, rapid strep testing, influenza/COVID testing, hemoglobin A1C, glucose testing, and other in-office testing as applicable. Operate, maintain, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment according to manufacturer instructions and office procedures. Perform and document required quality control testing and maintain accurate laboratory records. Follow all CLIA, OSHA, infection-control, safety, and laboratory policies and procedures. Ensure laboratory supplies and testing materials are adequately stocked and notify their Manager when supplies need to be ordered. Monitor expiration dates and proper storage of laboratory reagents, controls, and supplies. Prepare specimens for outside laboratory testing and ensure specimens are correctly packaged and handled for courier pickup. Accurately enter laboratory orders, results, and specimen information into the electronic medical record (EMR). Review laboratory requisitions and patient information for accuracy before specimens are sent to outside laboratories. Communicate abnormal, critical, or time-sensitive laboratory results to the appropriate provider or clinical staff according to office protocol. Maintain accurate and complete laboratory documentation and logs. Assist with laboratory inspections, audits, proficiency testing, quality assurance activities, and regulatory requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary laboratory work area. Follow proper infection-control practices and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist providers and Medical Assistants with laboratory-related patient care and clinical procedures as needed. Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate patient service while collecting specimens and performing testing. Explain laboratory procedures to patients and answer routine questions regarding specimen collection and testing. Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements at all times. Identify and report specimen collection, labeling, processing, or testing errors promptly. Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education as required. Assist with other clinical and laboratory duties as assigned by the Office Manager, Laboratory Supervisor, or Providers.

This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced family medicine practice. The successful candidate must be able to multitask, prioritize patient needs, work effectively with Providers and clinical staff, and maintain accuracy while working in a busy clinical environment.
