Diagnostic Testing :
Perform waived, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory testing across assigned hospital departments following established protocols; review and validate all results for clinical accuracy. Quality Control (QC) : Perform, evaluate, and document quality control procedures; initiate corrective actions immediately for out-of-range or invalid results prior to releasing patient data.
Instrumentation Maintenance :
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized laboratory equipment; complete scheduled preventive maintenance and efficiently resolve technical problems.
Data Integrity & LIS :
Accurately document patient test results within the Laboratory Information System (LIS); strictly follow critical result reporting protocols and maintain specimen integrity.
Phlebotomy Support :
Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary techniques according to established hospital phlebotomy procedures, ensuring strict patient identification and labeling.
Problem Resolution :
Recognize, investigate, and resolve complex issues related to specimen collection, processing, and analytical testing, escalating concerns through the chain of command when necessary.
Team Collaboration :
Assist with onboarding and training of students or new laboratory personnel by demonstrating testing procedures, monitoring performance, and providing constructive feedback.
Compliance & Attendance :
Maintain regular, reliable shift attendance while complying fully with all hospital policies, safety standards, and laboratory regulations. Job Qualifications & Requirements Required Education (Must meet one of the following): Associate Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Laboratory Technology.
Technical/Military School:
Successful completion of an official military Medical Laboratory Procedures course (minimum 50 weeks) holding the military occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
Required Licenses & Certifications:
MLT Certification:
Active certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician issued by the ASCP, AAB, HEW, or AMT is mandatory.
State License:
Valid state laboratory licensure, where applicable.
Preferred Experience:
0-2 years of clinical laboratory experience within an acute care hospital setting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Deep understanding of clinical laboratory testing principles, quality control practices, and strict specimen handling. Technical proficiency utilizing modern laboratory instruments, LIS platforms, and digital data entry systems. Ability to strictly follow standard operating procedures and adhere to regulatory guidelines (including CLIA, CAP, and The Joint Commission). Strong analytical troubleshooting, organizational, and clinical communication skills. An unwavering commitment to data accuracy, workplace efficiency, and overall patient safety.
