Job Description

Assists students in the Mechatronics labs with the completion of their lab tasks and assignments. Helps students learn the correct procedures to operate the tools and equipment in the lab safely and proficiently. Assures the upkeep, organization and cleanliness of lab spaces and equipment. Provides assistance to the lab instructor with demonstrations and teaching responsibilities as assigned. Helps the instructor enforce proper safety procedures. Helps maintain shop organization and cleanliness. Reviews the completed tasks of students in the laboratory. Ensures that the lab is operated in a safe and compliant manner. Maintains a clean and organized laboratory. Reviews tools and inventory to ensure that all items are returned and properly accounted for. Other job-related duties as assigned. Must be a current UVU Student. Knowledge of the correct operation and safe use of the tools and equipment students use to complete their lab tasks. Knowledge of Electrical safety and basic wiring knowledge. Knowledge of UVU Mechatronics program policies and procedures. Skill in the operation, adjustment, calibration, and maintenance of the electrical, CNC, power tools and related components and equipment used in the Mechatronics Lab. Ability to adapt to the variations in the curriculum and course material, to solve problems and think on your feet. Ability to communicate effectively with an instructor and multiple students. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal directions. Ability to explain detailed procedures to students. Ability to speak loud enough to be heard over the general noise of a Mechatronics lab.
