Job Summary:

The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for conducting laboratory tests on patient samples to analyze and measure the chemical components of body fluids (such as blood and urine). These tests are critical for assisting healthcare providers in diagnosing, monitoring, and managing medical conditions. The technician will follow established procedures, maintain equipment, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.

Key Responsibilities:

Sample Collection and Preparation :

Ø Collect blood, urine, or other body fluids from patients (if applicable). Ø Prepare and process samples for analysis, ensuring proper handling and storage to prevent contamination or degradation.

Conducting Laboratory Tests :

Ø Perform routine and specialized chemical tests using AU680, DXI600, CA620, XN530, Aimstrip urine analyzer and Alcor scientific ESR to measure various chemical substances. Ø Use techniques such as spectrophotometry, chromatography, and immunoassays.

Quality Control :

Ø Perform regular calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments to ensure accurate results. Ø Participate in quality control programs to ensure adherence to laboratory standards. Ø Monitor test procedures for consistency, accuracy, and precision. Ø Record and document test results accurately and immediately report any critical or abnormal findings to the appropriate medical staff.

Data Interpretation and Reporting :

Ø Record test results accurately and prepare reports for physicians or healthcare professionals. Ø Communicate any abnormal results or discrepancies to the appropriate medical staff. Ø Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained throughout the process.

Equipment and Inventory Management :

Ø Maintain laboratory equipment, including cleaning, calibrating, and troubleshooting instruments as needed. Ø Monitor laboratory supplies and reagents and ensure proper inventory management to avoid shortages.

Compliance and Safety :

Ø Adhere to safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA). Ø Ensure a safe and clean laboratory environment, properly handling biohazardous materials and waste. Required Qualifications at this

Level:

Be a licensed MD, DO, or DPM Earned a PhD, master's, or bachelor's degree in lab science Earned an AA degree (or experience equivalent) in laboratory science and graduated from clinical lab training program or have 3 months experience in each specialty of high complexity testing performed Earned a high school diploma or equivalent prior to 4/24/95 and have graduated from an HHS-approved lab training program or completed Military Medical Lab Specialist 50-hour course. Earned a high school diploma or equivalent and documented training for high complexity testing prior to 4/24/95 and, if training before 1/19/93, required on-site supervision when high complexity testing is performed Must possess a current license by the state if required
