Laboratory Assistant 2.5 2.5 out of 5 stars 10430 Furnace Road, Lorton, VA 22079 $21 an hour Bode Technology 23 reviews $21 an hour The responsibilities of the Laboratory Assistant include general laboratory stocking and daily upkeep through various support tasks. They are also responsible for assisting Forensic DNA Analysts and Technologists with tasks in the laboratory and providing administrative support.
Responsibilities may includes:
Stock laboratory with reagents and consumables, ensure adequate stock levels Aliquot reagents Clean and/or UV cross-link labware Assist with daily/weekly laboratory cleaning tasks such as mopping and sweeping Serve as testing witness to technologists and DNA analysts as required by SOPs Scan and verify case files and laboratory documentation Prepare/package evidentiary extracts for return to submitting agencies Perform laboratory equipment cleanings, verifications, calibrations or assigned maintenance Meet or exceed quality and productivity expectations Follow all SOPs and accurately record all testing and processes in LIMS and other worksheets May assist with quality control testing Other laboratory or administrative support as assigned Successfully complete required trainings Associates degree in Biology, Forensics or other natural science; BS degree is preferred Excellent laboratory skills Ability to concentrate and produce results with 100% accuracy Superior attention to detail Excellent demonstrated project management skills and ability to consistently meet or exceed deadlines Strong written and oral communication skills Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task required Works in and around sterile laboratory(s), laboratory equipment, chemicals/reagents Handles items with blood and other body fluids, exposure to blood-borne pathogens Works directly with evidence which may be sensitive in nature or may represent violent, criminal activity
