Sample Management CoordinatorJob Description The Sample Management Coordinator supports laboratory operations by overseeing the receipt, tracking, storage, and distribution of samples and standards. This role follows established procedures, assists laboratory personnel with sample management processes, and helps ensure compliance with laboratory and regulatory requirements. It offers exposure to clinical processes and an opportunity to build a career in a large, professionally run laboratory environment. Responsibilities

+ Receive, log, label, inventory, store, and distribute samples and standards in accordance with established procedures.

+ Maintain accurate records and track sample status throughout the laboratory workflow.

+ Communicate sample status, issues, and updates clearly and promptly to laboratory staff.

+ Support proper sample handling, storage, and documentation practices to maintain quality and compliance.

+ Review laboratory requests to ensure they comply with standard operating procedures and sample management requirements.

+ Assist with investigations, deviations, corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPAs) related to sample management.

+ Train laboratory personnel on sample management procedures, documentation standards, and storage requirements.

+ Respond to environmental monitoring alarms and participate in on-call support as needed.

+ Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in daily work activities.

+ Complete assigned work accurately and within established timelines. Essential Skills

+ High school diploma or equivalent required.

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in sample management, inventory control, laboratory operations, or a related field.

+ Knowledge of inventory management and sample tracking processes.

+ Understanding of laboratory documentation and regulatory requirements.

+ Ability to review and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).

+ Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.

+ Strong organizational and time management skills.

+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.

+ Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate degree, technical certificate, or relevant vocational training preferred.

+ Experience in sample management within a clinical or laboratory setting is beneficial.

+ Familiarity with laboratory workflows and sample handling best practices.

+ Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with defined procedures.

+ Willingness to participate in on-call support for environmental monitoring alarms.

+ Interest in gaining exposure to clinical processes and growing within a large laboratory organization. Work Environment This position is based in a laboratory environment working alongside approximately 5-10 other coordinators. The role involves frequent interaction with laboratory personnel and requires adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Work is performed using standard laboratory and office technologies, including sample management systems and Microsoft Office applications. The environment is structured and process-oriented, with clear procedures and documentation requirements, providing exposure to clinical workflows and opportunities for professional growth. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.18 - $20.20/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
