Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs technical and laboratory procedures across multiple areas, including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, specimen procurement, and other laboratory services . The MLT operates laboratory equipment, performs testing on patient specimens and control materials, monitors quality control procedures, and ensures accurate and timely laboratory results to support high-quality patient care. Essential Job Duties Analyze laboratory findings and verify the accuracy of test results. Enter laboratory test results and clinical data into computer systems. Set up, clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment. Prepare and analyze blood, tissue, and other biological specimens. Perform laboratory testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, and blood bank . Monitor quality assurance procedures to maintain accurate laboratory results. Collect and analyze blood samples, including cell counts, morphology, blood typing, and compatibility testing. Perform chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood, urine, and spinal fluid. Identify abnormalities such as bacteria, parasites, malignancies, and other abnormal findings. Assist with blood typing and routine blood testing. Provide technical information regarding laboratory results when appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities Organize workload and manage time effectively to complete laboratory tasks. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments. Use computer systems to operate instruments, calculate and record results, and transmit laboratory data. Analyze and interpret laboratory results using professional judgment. Work across laboratory sections, including: Hematology Chemistry Special Chemistry Serology Blood Bank Microbiology Urinalysis Maintain assigned laboratory instruments and sections, including scheduled maintenance and monitoring of supplies and consumables. Perform specimen collection for patients of all age groups, including: Venipuncture Capillary draws Culture collection Proper specimen collection instruction for nursing staff Requirements 2+ years of recent MLT/Laboratory experience Active Phlebotomist License Active Washington State MA-P License BLS Certification Driver's License (DL)
