PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for assisting the Lead Laboratory Technician and Customer Relations/Inventory Specialist with the day-to-day quality operations of Allan Brother's receiving quality control lab, off-site receiving lab locations and the production quality control lab.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reporting to the Laboratory Technician Lead and the Quality Control Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician will work closely with all receiving and production department key employees, including management. On occasion, this employee will assist horticultural researchers, vendors, buyers, marketing assistant/manager and executives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist with the day-to-day quality operations of the receiving quality control lab, off-site receiving lab locations and the production quality control lab. 2. Assist with post-harvest and import organizations and inspections. 3. Assist with buyer/vendor order inspections. 4. Assist with aged inventory inspections and reports. 5. Inspect product to determine the quality, condition, and/or compliance with Pack with Pride standards and storage parameters. 6. Document and inform appropriate personnel of quality concerns and initiate corrective actions as needed. 7. Complete inspection reports regarding fruit quality. 8. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY

EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSES, AND TRAINING

• High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED), preferred.
• Basic experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience in processing, packing, storage, and/or merchandising of fruit and vegetables, preferred.
• Valid Driver License with insurance.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish both written and verbal), preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Laboratory Technician will primarily work in a laboratory/office environment and occasionally exposed to cold storage and outdoor environment which can be cold or warm/hot and loud. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to complete essential job functions; this may include overtime, weekends and some holidays.
