The Sample Control Technician provides quality customer service while maintaining the samples integrity upon arrival to the lab - samples received are primarily drinking water, wastewater, or solid materials. The Sample Control Technician is responsible for ensuring all sample information from the Chain of Custody matches the bottles brought in by the client. This position is a crucial part of laboratory operations, as it ensures the correct analyses are performed in a timely manner and customers are assisted in a timely fashion. Strong attention to detail is required. High School diploma or equivalent required. This position is Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm. Salary DOE.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Greet customers in a timely and courteous manner Answer phones Receive samples from customers Label samples prior to laboratory analysis Inform analysts of rush samples Maintain knowledge of hold times for sample analyses and inform analysts upon receipt of samples with short hold times Contact clients if there are discrepancies or questions on sample Chain of Custodies Ensure that established sample turnaround times are met Follow quality control procedures as outlined in Quality Assurance Manual Follow all safety procedures, including use of provided PPE while handling all laboratory samples Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Excellent attention to detail and good organization skills Ability to contribute to a safe work culture Ability to work well in a team environment Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel Strong written and verbal communication skills Must be meticulous and able to work independently Excellent time management skills
