Job Description
Standard Laboratories, Inc. is a laboratory services firm providing comprehensive coal quality processing and analytical services to the coal mining and coal processing industries. Standard Laboratories, Inc. operates full-service analytical and processing laboratories providing around-the-clock coal quality technical support to the coal industry. We are currently accepting and reviewing applications for a Coal Analytical Laboratory Technician position. Primary Job Functions Conduct laboratory analysis of coal samples for multiple constituents, including but not limited to moisture, ash, sulfur, calorific content, volatile matter, fixed carbon, and free swelling index, utilizing laboratory instruments, gravimetric (weighing), and other laboratory procedures and techniques. Competently operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments, such as infrared detection sulfur analyzers, oxygen bomb calorimeters, analytical balances, and other laboratory equipment required to perform routine laboratory analysis. Conduct continuous quality control measures within analytical methods to demonstrate and document data validity. Organize daily workload and analysis schedules to meet data availability and reporting deadlines. Maintain a clean, organized laboratory and general work environment. Successful applicants will be trained to properly perform all job duties and functions. Required Work Schedule Day Shift -
Full-Time Position:
Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 AM start, overtime as required. Day Shift -Full-Time Position:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM start, overtime as required. Qualifications Laboratory experience is preferred. Ability to work with minimal supervision while achieving productivity standards, meeting data availability deadlines, and maintaining quality standards. Reasonable computer skills, as laboratory instruments are computer-driven. Solid and demonstrated work ethic — must be a contributing and productive employee. Compensation Hourly rate commensurate with demonstrated ability, knowledge, and experience. Benefits 5 days of vacation after the first year of employment. 10 days of vacation after the second year of employment. Six paid holidays per year. 401(k) program with company match.
