The Treatment Nurse is responsible for delivering quality wound care and skin treatment to residents in a skilled nursing facility. This role includes the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of skin and wound care while collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to promote optimal health outcomes. The Treatment Nurse ensures compliance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and nursing standards of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform daily skin assessments and provide appropriate wound care treatments as ordered by the physician. Monitor and document residents' skin conditions, including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and other skin concerns. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all treatments, progress notes, and wound assessments in the electronic medical record (EMR). Collaborate with the wound care team, physicians, and other healthcare providers to implement and update individualized care plans. Educate nursing staff on proper wound care practices, prevention of pressure injuries, and skin integrity protocols. Participate in weekly skin and wound rounds with the interdisciplinary team. Ensure infection control protocols are followed during all wound care and treatment procedures. Monitor treatment supplies and ensure proper usage and inventory levels. Respond promptly to any new skin issues or breakdowns and initiate appropriate interventions. Assist in audits and surveys related to wound care and treatment compliance.
