POSITION SUMMARY

The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing safe, appropriate, and timely nursing care to residents in accordance with physician orders, resident care plans, applicable laws and regulations, and facility policies and procedures. The LVN assists residents in maintaining their highest practicable level of physical, emotional, and psychosocial well being. Responsibilities include resident assessment and observation, medication administration, treatments, documentation, communication with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team, and responding to changes in resident condition. This position has a set NOC shift schedule of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The LVN must be available to consistently work all four scheduled NOC shifts. The LVN must be able to work independently and may be scheduled as the sole licensed nurse assigned to the unit or shift. The LVN must be comfortable managing resident care responsibilities without another licensed nurse physically present on the unit and must be able to independently prioritize resident needs, respond to emergencies, communicate with physicians and management, supervise assigned staff as applicable, and follow established procedures for escalation when additional clinical support is needed.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent. Current and active California Licensed Vocational Nurse license in good standing. Current Basic Life Support certification is required. BLS certification must include an in person, hands on skills component. Online only BLS certifications will not be accepted. The employee is responsible for maintaining a current and valid BLS certification throughout employment. Must meet all other applicable state, federal, and facility requirements for the position.
