Program Director Position Summary :

The LVN in addiction medicine provides nursing care and support to individuals recovering from substance use disorders in a variety of settings, including residential treatment and detoxification units. The LVN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care, promoting patient recovery and well-being.

Key Responsibilities :

Direct Patient Care :

Administer medications, including MAT (medication-assisted treatment) under supervision, ensuring proper dosage and documentation. Monitor patients for withdrawal symptoms and adverse reactions, providing appropriate care or escalating concerns to higher-level providers. Perform routine nursing procedures such as vital signs, wound care, and specimen collection. Support patients in managing chronic health conditions alongside substance use treatment.

Documentation and Compliance :

Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with state and federal regulations. Ensure compliance with confidentiality laws (e.g., HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2). Assist in the preparation of reports and audits as required.

Patient Education and Advocacy :

Educate patients about their treatment plan, including MAT, withdrawal management, and long-term recovery strategies. Provide emotional support, fostering a safe and nonjudgmental environment. Advocate for patient needs within the interdisciplinary team.

Team Collaboration :

Participate in case reviews, interdisciplinary team meetings, and treatment planning sessions. Communicate patient updates effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, counselors, and other team members.

Safety and Crisis Management :

Implement safety protocols, including monitoring for overdose risks or behavioral crises. Respond appropriately to emergencies, including the administration of naloxone or other lifesaving interventions.

Professional Development :

Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in addiction medicine through continuing education. Maintain an active LVN license and any required certifications (e.g., BLS, IV therapy).

Qualifications :

Education :

Graduate from an accredited LVN program.

Licensure :

Current LVN license,

State of California Experience :

Preferred experience in addiction medicine, behavioral health, or similar healthcare settings.

Certifications :

CPR/First-Aid Skills :

Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of addiction, withdrawal management, and MAT principles. Competence in using electronic medical records (EMRs).
