Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN or RN) to join our addication specialist team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of addiction medicine, with experience in providing care to adults in a Residential healthcare setting. As our Nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care, assisting with daily medical tasks, and ensuring the well-being of our patients. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the Medical Director and Program Director. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers. Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff. Assist in the development and implementation of patient care plans. Educate patients on health management and disease prevention. Maintain accurate patient records using Sunwave the companies electronic health record systems . Ensure compliance with infection control protocols to prevent the spread of diseases. Serves the organization as the Health Care Professional; responsible for training all staff on medication management systems Assist in completing the following documentation within 24 hours of the patient's admission to the program: Admission Note, Nursing Assessment, Pre-Screen Testing, Health Questionnaire, Pain, Nutritional, and IMS screenings. Transcribes Physician's Orders and Implements all Medical Protocols as ordered. I confer with and assist the medical doctor and psychiatrist. Administers TB tests and other medical tests Make appropriate referrals using referral forms. Attends and participates in all "in-service" functions. Assists with emergencies and makes immediate referrals. Provides documentation that reflects services for each patient by licensure standards. Maintains the Confidential nature of all patients and facility activities. Maintains required Training and Continuing Education. Maintains Standards of Ethical Conduct. Performs any other tasks outlined under the California Code of Regulations. Meets with patients requesting to see the doctor to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required. Effectively communicates concerns about patient health to the Clinical Director and follows up as necessary. Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, assists in educating patients about high-risk health problems and medical care associated with substance abuse counseling. Facilitates medication education for new patients and all other patients starting new medications. Meets with therapists to provide information about the patient's medical problems. Assists the treatment team in incorporating medical issues into treatment planning. Takes verbal orders from the Doctor or Medical Director, documents them in the patient record, and carries them out accurately and professionally. Provides routine nursing care under the supervision of the Medical Doctor. Participates in regular meetings with the Medical Director to discuss specific patient problems. Attend regular departmental and staff meetings. Encourages efficient utilization of supplies and equipment to prevent waste. Maintains effective communication between outside medical services and the facility. Keeps and shares records and equipment Attends in-service education programs as assigned to learn new forms, procedures, and developmental skills. Has good work habits; gets things done promptly and efficiently with no excessive absences, is on time for scheduled shifts, and is prepared to begin work. Functions as a team member and contributes positively to the staff's morale. Communicates effectively with other staff members and demonstrates the ability to work as a team. Understand and adhere to legal guidelines about patient confidentiality and patient rights. Maintains acceptable overall attendance. Perform duties independently, taking a proactive approach to problem situations and seeking supervision. Attends in-services and educational training as necessary and as assigned. Seek learning experiences and incorporate new knowledge into practice. Report incidents, accidents, and occurrences by established policies and procedures. Maintains the physical environment's safety. Acts as the Infection Control Coordinator, compiling monthly infection control reports. Follows IMS protocols, policies, and procedures Obtains medical histories Monitors patient health status to determine whether the health status warrants transfer of the patient to receive urgent or emergency care Oversees testing associated with detoxification from alcohol or drugs Provides alcoholism or drug abuse recovery or treatment services Oversees patient self-administered medications Treats substance abuse disorders, including detoxification Manages medication storage and destruction Handles biofluids, including the process from collection to disposal Makes referrals, including resident referrals for urgent or emergent care and referrals to a higher or lower level of care when medically appropriate. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned. Experience Proven knowledge of addiction medical services, and infection control practices. Experience working with adults in a behavioral healthcare setting is preferred. Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment while demonstrating strong communication skills.
