Job Description

Awaken Health is a physician-led Functional Medicine and Direct Primary Care practice in Cooper City, Florida. We are looking for an experienced, personable, and highly organized Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with strong IV skills to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an LPN who enjoys IV therapy, patient interaction, and working closely with physicians in a smaller, personalized healthcare environment. Position Overview The LPN will primarily oversee our IV therapy room and infusion services while also assisting our physicians with day-to-day patient care. The ideal candidate is confident starting IVs, comfortable independently managing the flow of an IV room, attentive to patient safety, and able to communicate professionally with patients by phone and secure messaging.
Responsibilities IV Therapy & Clinical Care:
  • Start peripheral IVs and administer physician-ordered IV therapies within LPN scope of practice
  • Monitor patients throughout IV infusions
  • Obtain and document vital signs
  • Perform blood draws/phlebotomy
  • Recognize and promptly respond to IV complications and adverse reactions
  • Maintain appropriate IV therapy documentation
  • Prepare the IV room for daily treatments
  • Maintain IV medications, supplies, equipment, and inventory
  • Monitor expiration dates and notify the team when supplies need to be reordered
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming IV environment
  • Follow established physician orders, clinical protocols, and infection-control procedures
Physician & Patient-Care Support:
  • Assist physicians with clinical patient care as needed
  • Triage incoming patient messages and phone calls
  • Gather appropriate clinical information before escalating messages to physicians
  • Communicate physician recommendations and instructions to patients when appropriate
  • Assist with medication and pharmacy-related communications
  • Coordinate follow-up care when directed by the physicians
  • Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the practice
Required Qualifications:
  • Active and unrestricted Florida LPN license
  • Completion of appropriate Florida IV therapy education/certification
  • Strong peripheral IV-start skills
  • Previous experience administering and monitoring IV infusions
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Current BLS certification
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control
  • Ability to recognize infiltration, extravasation, phlebitis, allergic reactions, and other potential infusion complications
  • Comfortable communicating with patients by telephone and secure messaging
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with physicians
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous outpatient infusion or IV therapy experience
  • Experience administering IV hydration, vitamins/minerals, iron infusions, or similar physician-ordered therapies
  • Strong patient-triage skills
  • Interest in functional medicine, wellness, prevention, and longevity
Schedule:
This is a part-time position with scheduling flexibility. We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with our physicians and office team to determine a schedule that meets both the needs of the practice and the candidate.
Compensation:
