Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Resident Care Assistant The medical technician assists the Health Service Director / LPN with medication supervision and may be directed by the Director to ensure that our facility provides the highest quality of resident care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists Health Service Director/LPN with medication pass. Provides care as directed by the Health Service Director to residents Is responsible for keeping drug room and medication cart neat, clean and in order. Performs charting duties. Maintains controlled substance records and is responsible for narcotics and other drugs which are signed out. Provides emergency treatment when required and notifies the physician of the emergency. Completes incident/accident report and follows facility policy and procedure. Incident/Accident Reports are to be provided to Health Service Director as they occur. Notifies Health Service Director/LPN of changes in resident's condition and any unusual observations. Follows daily facility routine of assigned tasks. Orients resident care assistants new to position or shift as directed by the Health Service Director. Knows general whereabouts of all residents. Review and evaluate nursing systems to determine effectiveness. Reports observations and other pertinent information related t the care of the resident. Documents objective information related to resident care. Provides services that support the care delivered to the resident. Provides input in the formulation and evaluation of standards of care Participates in the development of unit objectives Participates in the identification of staff educational needs. Comply with unit and facility policies Participates in the quality assessment and improvement process and activities Reorders all medications as soon as they are within 72 hours of running out. Communicates with housekeeping personnel and other department supervisors. Ability to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Health Service Director/LPN Minimum Qualifications:
18 years or older due to hours of work High School graduate or GED equivalency Completion of state mandated Medical Technician Training prior to hire. Minimum of three (3) years experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or other related medical facility. Any combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Prior ACLF experience preferred. Prior nursing assistant/student nurse experience preferred Completion of certification program for nursing assistants preferred Employer conducts Level II background checks, requires specific medical testing ahead of hire, and has additional hiring requirements.

• High risk for exposure to blood or body fluids
Supervision:
Receives supervision from Health Service Director and/or Licensed Nurse. Exercises functional supervision, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties
Abilities and Working Conditions:
Works in office areas as well as throughout the housekeeping service areas (ie., patient/resident rooms, therapy rooms, dietary, etc.) Sits, bends, stands, lifts and moves intermittently throughout work hours Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, blood and body fluids Subject to frequent interruptions Decision making ability Ability to work with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public Knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the ACLF community Leadership ability Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the Nursing Department Ability to move intermittently throughout workday Due to the nature of the job, ability to speak and write the English language Ability to see and hear, or use prosthetic devices to enable them to use these senses Ability to lift, push, pull and move a minimum of 50 pounds Ability to assist with resident evacuation
