A Licensed Practical Nurse or Vocational Nurse provides basic medical care under the direction of registered nurses and other healthcare specialists. The tasks that they are permitted to perform vary by state, but usually include changing bandages, checking blood pressure, or helping feed patients. May work in hospitals, nursing homes, or other healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities:
Welcome and support patients throughout their clinic visit, including intake and discharge activities. Assist providers with patient examinations, treatments, and minor procedures. Obtain vital signs, collect specimens, administer medications and vaccines, and perform clinical procedures within LPN scope of practice. Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, follow-up appointments, and patient scheduling. Answer phones and provide front office support to ensure efficient clinic operations. Accurately document patient care and maintain electronic medical records. Educate patients and families on treatment plans and follow-up care using patient-centered communication. Collaborate with providers and team members to deliver exceptional patient care and service. Maintain compliance with safety, quality, privacy, and regulatory standards.

LPN Degree from an accredited nursing school License(s)/Certification(s): LPN License in the State of Iowa
