Part Time, 24 hours per week, 12 hour shifts

Schedule:

Nights 7pm-7am, rotating weekends and holidays

Responsible for providing safe and reliable patient care, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Assists the RN in the nursing process, consistent with accepted and prevailing practice, which includes monitoring, observing, and reporting reactions to the patient's plan of care. Performs tasks or skills which fall within the scope of practice of a licensed practical nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction and supervision of unlicensed assistive personnel (i.e. Patient Care Technician), demonstrates clinical judgment appropriate for Iowa's LPN scope of practice, uses problem solving techniques and time-management principles, and delegates appropriately.
  • Assists in creating a positive work environment by working with team members to develop and facilitate initiatives to strive for positive outcomes in quality and care of patients. Effectively communicates with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff and all customers.
  • Complies with all policies and procedures, and guides team members with compliance.

Maintains a safe and clean environm Compiles with all safety goals, infection prevention and risk management policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Experience:
  • Experience in skilled nursing, long term care or acute rehabilitation preferred.
License/Certification:
  • Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Iowa required.
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire required.
  • Must obtain and maintain NIHSS education prior to end of orientation and complete every 2 years required.
  • Completion of eight hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually required.
