DISPENSING NURSE - OPIOID TREATMENT PROGRAM
(OTP/OMT) Chicago Treatment and Counseling Centers (CTCC) Chicago & Cicero, Illinois Chicago Treatment and Counseling Centers is seeking a dependable, compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our multidisciplinary team as a Dispensing Nurse within our outpatient Opioid Maintenance Treatment (OMT/OTP) programs. CTCC has provided substance use disorder treatment in the Chicagoland area since 1994 and operates multiple locations in Chicago and Cicero. Our programs include methadone maintenance, Suboxone treatment, substance use counseling, and related behavioral health services. Position Summary The Dispensing Nurse is responsible for the safe, accurate, timely, and confidential administration/dispensing of medication to individuals receiving treatment for opioid use disorder. The nurse works collaboratively with physicians, nursing leadership, counselors, clinical leadership, and other members of the treatment team while maintaining strict medication-control and documentation standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Safely and accurately dispense medications, including methadone, in accordance with physician orders, organizational policies, and applicable regulations. Maintain accurate medication inventory and medication accountability records. Complete required methadone accounting documentation and submit records as required. Immediately and accurately document dose and medication-related changes. Verify medication orders and client information prior to dispensing. Monitor clients for medication-related concerns and communicate clinical concerns to appropriate medical personnel. Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries when working with individuals receiving substance use disorder treatment. Maintain required nursing documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure nursing and medication-dispensing supplies are appropriately stocked and submit supply requests as needed. Participate in required nursing meetings, staff meetings, competency assessments, and mandatory trainings. Maintain knowledge of federal and state regulations and organizational policies applicable to opioid treatment programs. Participate in DEA and other regulatory medication-accountability processes and audits as required. Demonstrate competency in understanding substance use disorders, opioid dependence, available treatment resources, and appropriate use of those resources. Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between an individual's physical/medical condition, substance use, and treatment needs. Perform additional nursing duties as assigned and appropriate to the nurse's scope of practice.
Qualifications Required:
Current, unrestricted Illinois LPN license Graduate of an approved practical nursing program Ability to maintain all required professional licensing and continuing education requirements Strong medication administration, documentation, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing substance use disorders Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy requirements Dependability and punctuality are essential due to scheduled medication-dispensing operations
Preferred:
At least one year of methadone dispensing, OTP/OMT, addiction treatment, or substance use disorder nursing experience Previous experience working in an outpatient behavioral health or substance use treatment setting Familiarity with medication inventory/accountability procedures and controlled-substance regulations Phlebotomy experience is a plus CTCC's current careers page specifically identifies an LPN certificate as required for Dispensing Nurses and phlebotomy experience as a plus.
