Position Summary Al-Zoubaidi Vein & Vascular Center of Southern Illinois is a leading healthcare provider dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dynamic vascular surgery team. In this role, you will provide high-quality outpatient care for patients managing arterial and venous conditions (such as peripheral artery disease, aneurysms, and varicose veins). You will serve as a vital link between patients and our surgical team, ensuring a smooth, safe, and efficient clinical workflow. This is a full time position.
Take and record vital signs, height, weight, current medications, and chief complaints. Prepare patients for physical examinations and minor in-office procedures, ensuring comfort and proper positioning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Ability to handle stress and make quick decisions under pressure
Clinical & Procedural Support:
Assist vascular surgeons and team during endovascular and vein procedures. Perform specialized wound care, change surgical dressings, and monitor healing progress. Administer prescribed oral, topical, and injectable medications or immunizations under provider direction. Assist team with preoperative and postoperative patient care. Collaborate with other members of the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process. Assist all providers during clinic on non-surgical days
Patient Education:
Provide post-procedure care instructions and lifestyle management education to patients and families. Reinforce education regarding vascular disease management, compression therapy, and prescribed medications.
Documentation & Administration:
Accurately document all patient assessments, interventions, and communications in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in a timely manner. Handle patient inquiries, process medication refill requests, and communicate lab or diagnostic test results as directed.
Clinic Maintenance:
Maintain clean, safe, and fully stocked exam and treatment rooms. Sterilize and prepare reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
Licensure/Certification:
Current, active LPN license in the state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred Familiarity with vascular conditions, surgical wound care, and sterile technique is a strong plus.
Skills:
Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology. Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR). Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to remain organized, empathetic, and calm in a fast-paced environment.
