Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) to join our dedicated healthcare team in Wheeling, IL. This vital role involves providing specialized care for a young child with a G-tube, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of nursing experience, demonstrate excellent communication skills in ASL, and possess a passion for delivering high-quality patient-centered care. This position offers an engaging opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of a child and their family, working Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm. Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to a one-year-old patient with a G-tube, including tube feeding, medication administration, and routine assessments. Communicate effectively with the child's family using ASL to ensure clear understanding of care plans and updates. Monitor vital signs, perform physical examinations, and assess the child's overall health status regularly. Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality policies. Manage emergency situations promptly by utilizing advanced airway management, IV infusion skills, and acute pain management techniques. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and caregivers to coordinate ongoing care and discharge planning. Follow infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during all procedures to ensure patient safety. Qualifications Valid RN or LPN license with at least one year of clinical experience in settings such as hospital medicine, long-term care, or pediatric care. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required for effective communication with the patient and family. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or complex medical needs preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is highly desirable. Strong skills in patient assessment, medication administration—including injections—and tube feeding management. Ability to respond quickly in urgent situations using CPR and basic life support techniques. Familiarity with pediatric nursing practices such as neonatal ventilator management or gastrostomy tube care is advantageous.
