9673672-46143 Job Description Seeking an experienced RN or LPN to provide dedicated support for a 6th-grade student in a wheelchair during school hours. This contract position is located near Southport, IN, and runs from ASAP through May 27th. Initially, coverage is required on Wednesdays only, shifting to both Wednesdays and Thursdays after October 21st. The school day runs from 8am to 3pm with no bus riding responsibilities.
Key Qualifications:
Valid and active RN or LPN license with pediatric or school nursing experience Prior experience with tracheostomy care and g-tube management required; school provides a trach certification course if candidate does not already possess it (reimbursement available) Confidence in performing trach changes, suctioning, and emergency response such as CPR with ambu bag Ability to assist with toileting, changing, and transferring student as needs arise Strong communication and clinical skills Must not be a new graduate; candidates should have solid field experience
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one care for a student throughout the school day, focusing on medical, mobility, and personal care support Monitor and manage tracheostomy and G-tube, ensuring safety and immediate response in case of complications Assist with transfers in and out of the wheelchair and manage toileting and hygiene needs Collaborate closely with school staff and foster a comfortable environment for the student Maintain accurate health records and incident documentation per school guidelines This opportunity lets you make a profound impact in the life of a young student, while working a predictable daytime schedule.
