General Description:
The Nurse (LPN) will provide 1:1 medical and ADL support for a student with specialized health care needs. This position will also support the student with accommodations in the special education classroom for the student to access learning.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Valid and current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and AED from a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association).
- Nursing experience in community or child health. Experience in pediatrics is preferred.
- Understanding of child growth and development
- Ability to think critically and react decisively in emergency situations.
- Demonstrated ability to be an effective communicator with students, staff members, and parents and able to maintain confidentiality.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, and talk or hear.
- In an emergency, must be able to respond to the location quickly.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pound and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
