General Description:
The Franklin Public Schools, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a skilled and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse•Float to work at Franklin High School.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision and consultation of the School Nurse the LPN will:
Provide medical monitoring for students during van transit to and from school.
Accompany students to community vocational sites and administer medications as needed.
Provide medical monitoring for students participating in after-school clubs and extracurricular activities.
Assist with administering first aid to children
Administer medication in accordance with school policy
Perform specific medical procedures as prescribed and outlined in the student's health care plan
Confer with supervisor, site administrator, and the school nurse regarding student needs, policies, and procedures
Maintain records
Participate in educational programs designed to increase knowledge and enhance the quality of practical nursing care in the school setting
Upholds professional standards, the Massachusetts Nursing Practice Act and other state and local statutes and regulations applicable to school nursing practice; and adheres to district policies
Keeps current with any changes to applicable nursing practices and standards
Performs other related duties as assigned by the School Principal or School Nurse
Qualifications:
Hold a valid LPN License in the State of Massachusetts
Experience working with children and youth is preferred
Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
