Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and clinically skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with strong hands-on wound care experience to join our clinic team in Waldorf and nearby Southern Maryland locations. The Wound Care LPN works closely with our providers to assess, treat, and monitor acute and chronic wounds, supporting patients through every stage of healing. This role is ideal for an LPN who is confident in wound assessment and treatment, detail-oriented in documentation, adaptable, and comfortable working across more than one clinic location. Key Responsibilities Wound Assessment & Treatment Perform comprehensive wound assessments, including location, measurements, depth, drainage, tissue characteristics, surrounding skin condition, and changes in wound status Assess and monitor acute and chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries, venous and arterial ulcers, and post-surgical wounds Perform wound cleansing and dressing changes according to provider orders and established wound care protocols Select and apply appropriate wound care products and dressings (foam, alginate, hydrocolloid, silver, compression wraps, etc.) based on wound type and treatment plan Assist with or perform wound debridement when permitted by Maryland law, facility policy, provider orders, and LPN scope of practice Monitor wounds for signs of infection, deterioration, delayed healing, increased drainage, or necrosis and promptly notify the provider Assist providers with wound procedures, follow-up care, and treatment plan updates Documentation & Patient Education Accurately document wound measurements, staging, photos (per policy), treatments, and patient response in the EHR Educate patients and caregivers on home wound care, dressing changes, infection prevention, nutrition, and follow-up care Track wound healing progress and flag non-healing wounds for provider review Clinical Support Obtain vital signs, collect patient histories, and prepare patients for visits Administer medications and injections as ordered, within LPN scope of practice Maintain wound care supply inventory and a clean, organized treatment room Follow all clinical, safety, infection control, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements Multi-Site Support Work from an assigned home clinic (Waldorf or a nearby Southern Maryland clinic) and travel to nearby clinic locations based on patient-care and operational needs Assist with staff call-out coverage and unexpected staffing needs at nearby sites Collaborate with providers, nurses, and medical assistants across locations to deliver consistent, coordinated wound care Qualifications Required Active and unrestricted Maryland LPN license (or compact license) Current CPR/BLS certification Previous hands-on wound care experience Strong knowledge of wound assessment, staging, dressing selection, and infection prevention Ability to accurately perform wound measurements and complete wound documentation Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between clinic locations up to 75% of the time Preferred 1-2+ years of hands-on wound care experience, ideally in an outpatient wound clinic Wound care certification (WCC, CWCA, or equivalent) Experience with diabetic wounds, pressure injuries, venous/arterial ulcers, and post-surgical wounds Experience with compression therapy and debridement assistance EHR experience Benefits Competitive hourly pay, paid time off, and a supportive clinical team environment.
