Overview:
FirstHealth of the Carolinas is seeking a highly organized, patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our innovative Telemedicine team. This unique role combines front desk, clinical, and care coordination responsibilities to ensure patients receive exceptional virtual healthcare experiences. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, excels at multitasking, embraces technology, and is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service while supporting patients and providers through telehealth services. Position Summary As a CMA/LPN Front Desk, you will serve as a vital connection between patients, providers, and care teams. This position functions in both a medical office assistant and clinical support capacity, managing patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, telehealth workflows, triage, documentation, medication refills, and patient education.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Support Obtain and document vital signs, medication histories, and patient health information Prepare patients for virtual provider visits Triage patient calls and document encounters accurately in the EMR Process medication refill requests according to established guidelines Track laboratory and diagnostic testing results and facilitate follow-up care Communicate clinical information to providers and assist in care coordination Provide patient education based on provider instructions Support continuity of care through timely follow-up and documentation Front Desk & Administrative Duties Schedule and coordinate patient appointments Register new patients and maintain accurate demographic and insurance information Verify insurance eligibility and coverage Check patients in and out appropriately Promote and assist patients with electronic check-in and MyChart navigation Answer incoming calls, route messages, and respond to patient inquiries Ensure compliance with privacy, consent, and registration requirements Utilize ICD-10 and CPT codes accurately Telemedicine Program Support Monitor and support telemedicine platforms and virtual care programs Ensure patients are connected and ready for virtual visits on time Work closely with providers, paramedics, and support staff to coordinate care Assist patients with technology-related needs before and during telehealth visits Support new virtual care initiatives as programs continue to expand Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: Enjoys helping patients navigate healthcare and technology Demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and excellent people skills Has exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information appropriately Works independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team Adapts quickly to changing priorities and workflows
Qualifications:
Required Current North Carolina LPN License or CMA Certification Minimum one year of experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting Strong customer service and communication skills Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Preferred Family Medicine experience Telehealth or virtual care experience Experience with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, ICD-10 and CPT coding
