Job Description

The Stony Brook School, a distinguished independent, faith-based boarding school, is seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Health Center team. The LPN will work under the direction of the Director of Health and Wellness and provide skilled nursing care and support to our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to health and wellness, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment . This position requires the LPN to assist Registered Nurses (RNs) with various medical tasks, ensure the well-being of students, and maintain accurate health records. The role also includes driving and chaperoning students to medical appointments as needed

Part Time; three days a week, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

This is a 9-month position, from the beginning of September (Labor Day) to the end of May (Memorial Day).

Responsibilities:
Assist Registered Nurses (RNs) in providing nursing care to students, including health assessments, vital signs, and treatments. Provide nursing care and attend to the needs of ill students staying in the Health Center. Administer medications per physician's orders. Provide first aid to students as needed. Maintain student health records, with a preference for experience with electronic medical health records. Drive and chaperone students to medical appointments, urgent care, or the emergency department as needed.
Qualifications:
Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse license. Valid New York State driver's license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred experience in pediatric or emergency department settings. Service-minded, congenial, and patient demeanor. Excellent communication skills. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Basic computer and office skills. Strong Christian commitment and alignment with our educational philosophy.

Salary Range:
$25 - $30 per hour; commensurate with experience.
