POSITION OVERVIEW
The 1:1 School Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing health services to Midview Schools/LeafBridge Alternative Education. Working in collaboration with educators, administrators, and families, the school nurse serves as the primary healthcare resource within the school community — promoting wellness, managing chronic conditions, responding to acute needs, and ensuring students are healthy and ready to learn.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in assessment and triage of student health concerns under RN/physician supervision Administer medications and treatments per established protocols and physician orders Assist in implementing individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) and emergency action plans (EAPs) Support management of students with chronic health conditions including asthma, diabetes, and allergies Conduct health screenings as directed (vision, hearing, BMI) Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA Communicate student health updates to parents, school staff, and supervising RN Provide basic health education to students and families Respond to building-level health needs and assist in emergency situations Collaborate with the supervising RN and school team to promote student wellness
QUALIFICATIONS
Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Ohio Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program School nursing or pediatric/community health experience preferred Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a school environment under RN supervision CPR/AED certification required (or willingness to obtain)
LICENSURE
Current Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required. Able to obtain an Aide Permit through OHID. Work is performed under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) per Ohio nursing scope of practice.
