Job Description
Job Summary Functions as a member of the healthcare team by exercising sound nursing judgment based on preparation, knowledge, skills, understanding and past experiences in nursing situations. Performs general nursing care to facility residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:- Administers and charts medication and therapeutic treatment prescribed or ordered for the resident.
- Gives nursing care to residents; notes signs and symptoms of residents' physical and mental condition; and documents observations and interventions. Promptly notifies chain of command when any changes in resident's condition are noted and follows through with appropriate action.
- Renders immediate attention as needed to ensure resident comfort and safety.
- Participates in the development, revision and implementation of policies and procedures designed to insure comfort and safety of residents in collaboration with other healthcare personnel.
- Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care in settings where nursing takes place.
- Provides a clean, orderly and safe environment.
- Supervises and directs Nursing Assistants ensuring that assignments are completed and protocols followed.
- Provides patient care daily.
- Responsible for administering constructive criticism, verbal and written counseling and referrals for disciplinary action.
- Interacts with personnel of other departments involved in residents' therapy.
- Interacts with physician. Provides information, assists with rounds, receives and processes orders as specified and within the scope of professional practice.
- Completes MDS and all necessary charting requirements and paperwork.
- Reviews and updates Resident Care Plans to reflect current resident condition and interventions.
- Participates in Resident Care Conferences.
- As requested, completes other forms and paperwork.
- Enters appropriate information in computer.
- Promptly reports any known or perceived incidents of resident abuse to appropriate authorities.
- Works in collaboration with other licensed personnel and team members to insure an organized and functional nursing unit.
- May be required to perform any additional work not specifically outlined above and congruent with the Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice.
