The primary responsibility of a Licensed Practical Nurse is to implement and maintain established nursing objectives and standards, provide direct nursing care to the residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the CNA's.Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities Basic Nursing Care:
Vital Signs:
Accurately measure and record vital signs like temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respirations.Medication Administration:
Administer medications as prescribed by a physician, following facility protocols and under the supervision of an RN.Wound Care:
Perform wound care, including changing dressings and monitoring for signs of infection.Hygiene and Mobility:
Assist residents with personal hygiene, dressing, bathing, and mobility.Nutrition and Hydration:
Ensure residents receive proper nutrition and hydration, assisting with feeding if necessary.Patient Monitoring:
Patient History:
Record a patient's history and current condition.Observation:
Observe and document changes in a resident's condition, reporting any concerns to the RN.Communication:
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and other healthcare professionals.Collaboration and Supervision:
RN Supervision:
Work under the supervision of an RN, following their guidance and instructions.CNA Supervision:
Supervise certified nursing assistants (CNAs) in providing basic nursing care.Teamwork:
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure residents receive comprehensive care.Other Duties:
Patient Safety:
Maintain a safe environment for residents, following infection control protocols and other safety guidelines.Documentation:
Accurately document all care provided, including medications administered, vital signs, and any observations.Emotional Support:
Provide emotional support and comfort to residents and their families.Requirements & Qualifications:
- Must possess a nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN in this state.
- Must maintain and have an active CPR/BLS during employment.
- Prefer experience in long term care, geriatric rehab, sub-acute and or critical care clinical setting.
- Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
