Job Description

Position Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Valeda Treatment Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and administering Valeda® Light Delivery System treatments in accordance with physician orders, manufacturer guidelines, and Washington State nursing regulations. This role serves as the primary point of contact for patients receiving Valeda therapy and is responsible for treatment scheduling, patient education, informed consent coordination, treatment administration, device maintenance oversight, troubleshooting, and communication with providers regarding patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Treatment Administration Administer Valeda treatments as prescribed by the physician and according to established clinical protocols. Verify physician orders, patient eligibility, and treatment schedules prior to each treatment session. Monitor patients during treatment and report any concerns, adverse events, or treatment-related issues to the physician. Document all treatments accurately and timely within the electronic medical record (EMR). Provide patient education regarding treatment expectations, scheduling requirements, and follow-up care. Ability to start IV for FA testing Blood draws EKGs Patient Scheduling & Coordination Maintain treatment scheduling workflows to ensure protocol compliance and maximize treatment capacity. Schedule and coordinate all Valeda treatment appointments. Monitor treatment adherence and proactively contact patients regarding missed or rescheduled appointments. Coordinate treatment schedules with physicians, technicians, and clinic staff to ensure continuity of care. Informed Consent & Patient Education Review physician-approved informed consent documents with patients. Ensure informed consent is completed and documented prior to initiation of treatment. Answer patient questions regarding treatment logistics and expectations and escalate clinical questions to the physician when appropriate. Provide educational materials and reinforce treatment protocols. Device Operations & Maintenance Operate the Valeda Light Delivery System in accordance with manufacturer specifications and clinic policies. Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and quality assurance checks. Maintain treatment logs and equipment documentation as required. Troubleshoot basic operational issues and coordinate service requests with the manufacturer or designated support personnel. Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly. Program Development & Quality Assurance Assist in developing and implementing Valeda treatment workflows and operational protocols. Monitor program efficiency and recommend improvements to scheduling, patient flow, and treatment delivery processes. Ensure compliance with clinic policies, HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. Participate in staff training and ongoing competency assessments related to Valeda therapy.
Qualifications:
Required Current Washington State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing. Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in an outpatient healthcare setting. Strong organizational, communication, and patient-service skills. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR). Ability to work independently and manage a specialized treatment program. Preferred Experience in ophthalmology, retina, optometry, or ambulatory specialty care. Experience with medical device operation and troubleshooting. Experience coordinating patient treatment programs and scheduling workflows.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of nursing principles and scope of practice under Washington State law. Ability to educate patients and explain treatment processes in a professional and compassionate manner. Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Ability to identify and escalate patient care concerns appropriately. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods. Ability to operate clinical equipment and computer systems. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
