Lead Massage Therapy Instructor -

Day Program Job Overview:

Body Logic School of Cosmetology, Esthetics & Massage Therapy is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and highly qualified Lead Massage Therapy Instructor to lead our daytime Massage Therapy program in Birmingham, Alabama. This position is ideal for a licensed massage professional who is passionate about education, student development, hands-on instruction, professional ethics, and maintaining high standards of regulatory compliance. The Lead Massage Therapy Instructor will provide classroom and practical instruction, skills demonstrations, student evaluations, academic and attendance documentation, and direct supervision of student clinical massage services. The selected candidate will serve as a leader within the Massage Therapy department and work closely with School Administration to maintain a professional, organized, student-focused, and compliant educational environment.

Duties:

Deliver engaging and comprehensive Massage Therapy instruction through lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practical application, skills assessments, testing, and review. Prepare and utilize approved lesson plans, curriculum materials, assessments, and instructional resources. Provide direct supervision of students during scheduled Supervised Student Massage Clinic services. Ensure appropriate client consultation, contraindication screening, draping, sanitation, professional boundaries, ethics, and client safety are consistently taught and followed. Monitor student attendance, academic progress, practical competencies, clinical performance, and required assignments. Maintain accurate student grades, attendance records, clinical documentation, practical evaluations, and other required academic records. Review student records regularly for accuracy and completeness. Conduct student progress reviews and communicate attendance, academic, behavioral, or clinical concerns to School Administration in a timely manner. Provide mentorship, constructive feedback, and professional guidance to students throughout their education. Maintain an organized, professional, sanitary, and compliant classroom and student clinic environment. Remain knowledgeable regarding current Alabama Massage Therapy Licensing Board laws, rules, professional standards, and licensing requirements. Work closely with School Administration regarding regulatory documentation, inspections, licensing requirements, and program compliance. Collaborate with administration and other staff members regarding schedules, student progress, curriculum, clinic operations, and program improvements. Serve as a positive professional role model and industry resource for Massage Therapy students.

Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the field of Massage Therapy, as required for Alabama Massage Therapy Instructor registration . High school diploma or equivalent Strong understanding of massage therapy techniques, professional standards, ethics, sanitation, client safety, and industry best practices Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills Ability to effectively teach, demonstrate techniques, evaluate student performance, and supervise student clinical services Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, motivate, and professionally manage students Ability to reliably commute to our Birmingham, Alabama location Ability and willingness to maintain all required professional licenses, registrations, continuing education, insurance, and other applicable credentials throughout employment Both required Alabama Massage Therapy credentials must remain current, active, and in good standing throughout employment.

Schedule:

Day Program Monday-Thursday:

9:00 AM-3:30 PM Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.

Required Saturday:

First Saturday of each month ONLY 9:00 AM-3:00

PM Supervised Student Massage Clinic Days:

Monday Wednesday First Saturday of each month

Expected Hours:

Approximately 24 paid hours per regular week and 30 paid hours during the week that includes the required first Saturday of the month.

Additional Hours:

Additional work hours may occasionally be available on Fridays , based on School needs and at the discretion of School Administration. Additional Friday hours are not guaranteed and are not part of the employee's regular required schedule. The new daytime Massage Therapy class is anticipated to begin in Fall 2026 , and we are seeking to fill this position as soon as possible to allow adequate time for onboarding, curriculum preparation, and program planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Massage Therapy teaching or instructional experience preferred; no minimum number of years of teaching experience required Previous experience supervising student massage clinics is strongly preferred Previous experience working in a licensed Massage Therapy school is strongly preferred Familiarity with Alabama Massage Therapy Licensing Board requirements Experience with lesson planning, curriculum development, student assessment, and academic recordkeeping Current CPR/First Aid certification CPR/First Aid Instructor certification or qualification to teach and certify students in CPR/First Aid is strongly preferred, but not required. Previous Lead Instructor, program leadership, regulatory, or compliance experience is strongly preferred

Lead Instructor & Compliance Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will serve as the Lead Massage Therapy Instructor for the daytime program and may also be formally designated by School Administration as the Licensed Massage Therapist responsible for establishment compliance , in accordance with applicable Alabama Massage Therapy Licensing Board requirements.

Additional responsibilities may include:

Working with School Administration to maintain compliance with applicable Alabama Massage Therapy laws and administrative rules Assisting with monitoring applicable professional licenses and credential requirements Helping ensure student clinical services are conducted under appropriate supervision Assisting with required regulatory and program documentation Assisting School Administration with preparation for regulatory inspections Promptly identifying and communicating potential licensing or compliance concerns Supporting consistent compliance within the School's Massage Therapy program and supervised student clinic

Pay:

$23.00-$27.00 per hour Compensation is based on professional Massage Therapy experience, teaching experience, leadership experience, additional certifications, and overall qualifications. Candidates with significant Massage Therapy education experience, CPR/First Aid Instructor credentials, and/or regulatory and compliance experience may qualify toward the upper end of the posted range.
