Job Description

Massage Therapist - Independent Contractor The Grove, located just outside Nashville and minutes from historic Franklin, is a 1,100-acre gated community offering a distinctive private club lifestyle dedicated to providing exceptional member services and the most comprehensive amenity and recreational offerings in the region. We are currently seeking an accomplished, self-motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented professional to join the team. The Massage Therapist is responsible for providing professional therapeutic massage services to The Grove members and guests through a variety of trained modalities. This position requires a commitment to exceptional service, professionalism, and member care. This is a commission-based, independent contractor (1099) position. Compensation is based solely on services performed and completed appointments in accordance with The Grove Spa's established commission structure. The Grove Spa operates Tuesday through Saturday. Regular availability to accept appointments during spa operating days is required, including select holidays and other high-demand periods. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Member Experience & Service Excellence
  • Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with members, guests, and spa staff.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting and welcoming members and guests in a courteous, warm, and enthusiastic manner.
  • Escort members and guests to designated treatment areas in accordance with Club and Spa standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling member requests, concerns, or special situations.
  • Maintain the highest standards of service, hospitality, and member satisfaction. Massage Therapy Services
  • Provide therapeutic massage services tailored to individual member needs, preferences, and treatment goals.
  • Perform professional Swedish and Deep Tissue massage treatments in accordance with training, licensure requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Additional knowledge and experience in other massage modalities is preferred.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the therapeutic and wellness benefits of massage therapy and bodywork. Professional Standards & Operations
  • Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to perform all accepted appointments.
  • Maintain reliable transportation and the ability to travel to The Grove as needed for scheduled services.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary treatment environment that meets all Club standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Properly clean, disinfect, and sanitize treatment rooms, equipment, tools, and supplies after each service.
  • Accurately maintain client records, including treatment history, preferences, wellness charts, and session notes.
  • Document services provided using appropriate SOAP or DAP note formats, when applicable.
  • Stay current with massage therapy techniques, industry trends, continuing education requirements, and wellness products.
  • Communicate effectively with Spa management and staff regarding scheduling, member needs, and service-related matters. Compliance & Safety
  • Adhere to all Club and Spa policies regarding member privacy, safety, sanitation, facility use, and professional conduct.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable Tennessee state laws, regulations, and licensing requirements governing massage therapy services.
  • Maintain a current and active Tennessee Massage Therapist License at all times. Qualifications & Requirements Required Qualifications
  • Current and active Tennessee Massage Therapist License.
  • Completion of a minimum of 500 hours of massage therapy education from an accredited program, with documentation available upon request.
  • Proof of required continuing education courses or units necessary to maintain professional licensure.
  • Ability to independently perform 60-minute and 90-minute Swedish and Deep Tissue massage services utilizing proper draping techniques.
  • Must provide a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) evidencing professional liability insurance with minimum coverage limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence, maintain active coverage throughout the duration of the engagement, and provide updated documentation upon renewal or request.
  • Responsible for maintaining all licenses, certifications, insurance coverage, and tax obligations associated with independent contractor status.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with Spa management and staff.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary treatment environment. Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced training or certifications in additional massage modalities.
  • Experience working in a luxury spa, wellness center, resort, or private club environment. Work Schedule
