Job Description

Overview The Orthopaedic Center is looking for a highly motivated Medical Assistant (MA). This opening is a full-time position averaging 40 hours per week. The MA will assist various orthopedic physicians under the direction of Clinical Coordinator and provide coverage for clinical teams as needed. Perform general nursing duties, suture/staple removal, and wound care/dressing changes. Drawing up and calling in medications. Application of sterile fields and removal of casts and splints. Locate any necessary imaging, test results or reports for upcoming appointments. Schedule and precert MRI'S, lab work, procedures, and surgeries. Prepare for clinic by printing out patient information as requested by physicians, as well as prepare exam rooms, restock supplies for clinic, power up computers, etc. Assist with verifying pre-op labs and scheduling surgery clearances as needed. Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms. Obtain physician signature on miscellaneous forms. Travel locally to satellite offices as schedule requires. Friendly and Professional patient communication when answering and returning patient phone calls, appointment/surgery reminder calls, responding to and chart patient messages and communicating test results to patients with direction from physicians. Providing various forms of patient education and handouts. Escorting patients to and from exam rooms. The MA must be able to communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians and staff.
Qualifications Education required:
HS/GED License, Certification and/or
Registration:
ROT or CCMA certification required by first 90 days of employment
Experience:
Minimum one-year full-time clinical experience in healthcare preferred
