Duties Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in various specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, and urgent care. Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and other patient information accurately using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and managing intake processes efficiently. Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration under supervision, and basic life support (BLS) when required. Manage medical documentation meticulously, including updating patient records, coding diagnoses with ICD codes, and ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards. Support administrative functions like scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, managing medical records, and assisting with billing processes. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols; assist with inventory management of supplies and medications. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate inpatient or outpatient care in settings like Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers when applicable. Experience Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings; experience in dermatology or internal medicine is highly desirable. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management to ensure accurate documentation. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical records management. Hands-on experience with phlebotomy techniques, medication administration protocols, vital signs collection, and patient intake procedures. Previous inpatient or outpatient experience in hospital environments or Level I/II trauma centers is preferred; OR experience is a plus. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as Medical Assisting Certification (CMA), Phlebotomy certification or Medical Office Management are advantageous. Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient service; ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced healthcare settings.
