Medical Assistant / Practice Assistant (Technology & Patient Advocacy Focus) - Solo FNP Practice We are seeking a versatile and tech-savvy Medical Assistant / Practice Assistant to support a solo Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) practice in Avondale, AZ on a part-time basis for 3-5 hours per week . This role focuses on clinical care optimization, tech integration, and patient advocacy, with the weekly hours distributed exclusively on Friday or Saturday .In this role, you will work directly with the FNP to bridge the gap between clinical care and modern healthcare technology while serving as a trusted chaperone for sensitive medical examinations across patients of all life stages. The ideal candidate ensures high-quality patient comfort, handles clinical documentation, and champions the use of digital health tools to streamline patient care.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Advocacy & Chaperone Duties Serve as a dedicated chaperone during sensitive physical examinations, ensuring patient comfort, privacy, and safety. Maintain a professional, supportive presence to help alleviate patient anxiety during visits. Uphold strict clinical protocols and accurately document chaperone presence within the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Technology & Practice Optimization Manage electronic patient communications , including responding to patient portal messages, handling secure emails, and routing inquiries to the FNP. Coordinate prior authorizations by gathering clinical documentation, submitting requests to insurance companies, and tracking approvals to prevent delays in care. Assist patients with portal onboarding , troubleshooting basic login issues, and navigating digital check-in processes. Optimize EHR workflows by assisting the provider with accurate data entry, e-prescribing queues, and digital care tracking. Clinical & Lab Operations Perform Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) , manage lab orders, and execute quality control (QC) checks as recommended by clinical guidelines. Room patients, take vital signs , and document medical histories accurately. Prepare exam rooms with necessary instruments, ensuring sterile environments for all procedures. Coordinate follow-up care by scheduling appointments and managing digital patient communications.

Qualifications & Skills Certification:

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred, or equivalent clinical training.

Experience:

Minimum of 1-2 years in an outpatient clinical setting preferred (Family Practice or primary care background is a plus).

Availability:

Must be available to work the required 3-5 hours on Fridays or Saturdays in Avondale.

Continuing Competency:

Active commitment to ongoing learning, including completing continuing education units (CEUs), maintaining valid certifications, and completing training on emerging digital health technologies.

Administrative Proficiency:

Strong understanding of insurance authorization processes, medical necessity documentation, and professional digital communication etiquette.

Tech Savviness:

High proficiency with electronic health record systems and comfort troubleshooting basic consumer apps/devices.

Lab Competency:

Familiarity with standard Point-of-Care testing equipment and strict adherence to quality control procedures.

Interpersonal Skills:

Compliance:
