Job Description
ENTICARE, an Otolaryngology practice, is looking for a Medical Assistant for front and back-office support. This position will be based primarily in the Maricopa office location. Our Patient-Centered care approach focuses on the needs of the patient while supplying excellence in clinical care, service, and interdepartmental collaborative communication. Accountability to our patients, community and each other for providing the best in the most cost-effective way. Under the direction of a Provider, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of duties in connection with the examination and treatment of patients. The Medical Assistant is expected to conduct the mission of Enticare. The Medical Assistant takes a pro-active approach using available resources to best serve the patient population. Performs a variety of clerical support duties including receptionist, telephone, scheduling, insurance verification, collection of co-pays and deductibles, message management and correct data input. A continuous exhibition of professionalism, strong ethical conduct, and integrity must be always conducted. Ambitious standards of work performance, keeping a cheerful outlook and adhering to the policies, procedures, protocols, and Arizona validated competencies. The Medical Assistant works in a team model to improve the patient's experience, create better communication and access to care, and support processes that will improve patient satisfaction. 1. Consistent with Medical Assistant education and under the direction of a licensed health care professional, the Medical Assistant performs the following clinical responsibilities including but not limited to: Prepares exam rooms. Escorts the patient to the examining room, obtains a brief history, documents chief complaint, takes vital signs. Prepares and instructs patients about examinations, aids the physician/clinician on exams, scribing, performs or aids with procedures, point of care testing, diagnostic tests, obtains prior authorizations for DME medications, and health maintenance. Records and communicates patient related information, including vital signs, growth parameters, medical histories, signs, and symptoms, to the physician or licensed health care provider. Disposes of bio-hazardous materials following OSHA safety standards and practice policies. May administer and record injections, prepares and administers medications with provider authorization and adheres to all regulations, guidelines, and policies for proper storage, mixing, disposal, inventory, and labeling of medications. Receives telephone calls from patients, pharmacy and others, documents and relays information to provider for action. Prepares and administers medications, obtains prior authorizations for medication, communicates telephone prescriptions to pharmacies, and processes medication refills as directed by a physician. Performs a variety of front office duties as needed, including, but not limited to, check in/Check out, telephone encounters, chart prep and maintenance, insurance/FMLA/disability/etc. forms and scheduling. Organize and communicate with insurance companies for authorizations for therapies, procedures, medications, testing and specialist referrals. Always follows Enticare and OSHA safety rules and procedures. Upholds HIPAA regulations. Follows proper legal and ethical professional conduct Demonstrates infection control standards related to hand washing and standard precautions including ensuring that all equipment in exam room is cleaned according to clinic policies. Remains up to date with certifications, company mandated training, and professional development. Performs job related duties as requested and assigned Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED Required Licenses and Certifications Certified or Registered Medical Assistant OR completion of a Medical Assistant program that meets the BOMEX training guidelines OR completion of a United States Armed Forces medical services training program OR meet necessary guidelines as described in Arizona Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code, Title 4, Chapter 16, Article 4, Section R4-16-401, paragraphs
