Dermatology / Mohs Micrographic Surgery Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, professional, and highly motivated Dermatology Medical Assistant with Mohs surgery experience to join our private dermatology practice. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience assisting with Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic procedures, surgical preparation, wound care, and general medical dermatology . This position requires excellent clinical skills, attention to detail, efficiency, professionalism, and the ability to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. Prior dermatology and Mohs surgery experience is strongly preferred . Key Responsibilities Assist the Mohs surgeon throughout Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic procedures Prepare patients, procedure rooms, instruments, supplies, and surgical trays for Mohs cases Maintain proper sterile technique and infection-control standards Assist with local anesthetic preparation and administration as permitted by practice policy and applicable law Assist with surgical procedures, including biopsies, excisions, electrodessication and curettage, and other dermatologic procedures Assist with surgical repairs and closures as directed by the physician Perform pre-operative patient preparation and obtain appropriate medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and vital signs Provide patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions Perform wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal Review and reinforce wound-care instructions with patients and caregivers Prepare specimens and complete appropriate labeling and documentation Photograph lesions and surgical sites according to practice protocols Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record Assist with patient rooming and clinical support for general medical dermatology when needed Maintain appropriate inventory of surgical and clinical supplies Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments according to established protocols Ensure procedure rooms are properly stocked, organized, and ready for each patient Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, front-office staff, patients, and families Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the Mohs schedule Respond professionally and compassionately to patient questions and concerns Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection-control, and practice safety standards Perform additional clinical duties as assigned

Qualifications Required/Strongly Preferred:

Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a dermatology practice Hands-on Mohs surgery experience Experience assisting with dermatologic surgical procedures Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection-control procedures Experience with wound care and suture removal Experience using an electronic medical record system Excellent communication and patient-service skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical and surgical environment Ability to anticipate physician and patient needs Dependable, punctual, professional, and team-oriented

Preferred:

Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) or equivalent certification 2+ years of dermatology experience Previous experience working directly with a Mohs surgeon Experience assisting with complex surgical repairs and closures BLS/CPR certification Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate is an experienced dermatology Medical Assistant who is comfortable working independently within their scope while functioning as an integral member of the Mohs surgical team. The Medical Assistant should be comfortable with early surgical preparation and remaining flexible based on the Mohs surgery schedule and patient needs. Compensation Competitive hourly compensation based on the candidate's dermatology experience, Mohs surgery experience, certification, and overall clinical skill level . Candidates with substantial hands-on Mohs experience and the ability to independently support a high-volume surgical schedule may be eligible for compensation at the higher end of the practice's Medical Assistant pay structure.

Pay:

$25.78 - $31.04 per hour
