Full Job Description Job Summary:
As a Medical Assistant , your primary responsibility is to support healthcare providers in delivering efficient and high-quality medical care to patients in a medical office setting. You will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth patient flow, providing assistance to healthcare professionals, and maintaining a well-organized and patient-friendly environment.
Responsibilities:
Greet patients over the phone and in person. Front desk reception, Answers phones and schedules appointments, back office support Measure and record vital signs Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint Provides patient education with regards to medications, special diets Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests Assists physician assistants and MD with exam, procedures and wound care Obtain pre-authorization and verify insurance coverage. Communicate pre-op instructions to patients (fasting, medication restrictions, arrival time, etc.). Coordinate pre-op testing and labs. Schedule appointments, procedures, and referrals. Verify insurance and collect copays. Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms and medical supplies. Manage EMR documentation including charting and scanning records. Assistance with
Procedures:
Assist healthcare providers during examinations, treatments, and minor medical procedures. Prepare and maintain necessary equipment and supplies for medical procedures.
Medical Documentation:
Document patient information accurately in electronic health records systems (eCW). Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Patient Education:
Provide patients with relevant information regarding their medical conditions, medications, and aftercare instructions. Answer patient inquiries and address concerns to the best of your ability.
Administrative Tasks:
Assist with front desk duties, including appointment scheduling, phone inquiries, and insurance verification. Ensure a clean and organized workspace, restocking supplies as needed.
Infection Control:
Adhere to infection control practices and maintain a clean and sanitized environment. Follow established protocols for handling biohazardous materials.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure coordinated and efficient care delivery. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities) High School Diploma, GED, or related education/experience 1-2 years of Medical experience preferred Enthusiastic with excellent customer service skills Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality Excellent communication and listening skills, as well as basic computer knowledge Uphold standards and regulations set by HIPAA Required to travel to our different locations Federal-, State- and GHR-required credentials current and on file Able to read and write consistent with job requirements; cognitive skills as related to the position Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
