Medical Records Assistant -
Full-Time Kern River Transitional Care Pay Range:
$18.00-$21.00 per hour, based on experience Kern River Transitional Care is seeking an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Records Assistant to join our team full-time. The Medical Records Assistant will help maintain accurate, complete, and confidential resident health records while supporting the daily operations of the Medical Records Department. Key Responsibilities Organize, maintain, and update resident medical records File clinical documentation accurately and promptly Review records for completeness, proper signatures, dates, and required documentation Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer records Scan, upload, and index documents into the electronic health record Track outstanding physician orders, progress notes, and other required documentation Prepare records for audits, surveys, reviews, and authorized requests Assist with processing requests for medical information in accordance with HIPAA requirements Maintain accurate record logs and tracking systems Ensure discharged records are organized, completed, and stored appropriately Communicate with nursing, therapy, physicians, and other departments regarding missing or incomplete documentation Protect the confidentiality and security of all resident information Follow facility policies and applicable state and federal regulations Perform additional clerical and administrative duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous medical records or healthcare administrative experience preferred Skilled nursing or long-term care experience is a plus Familiarity with electronic health records and medical terminology preferred Knowledge of HIPAA and resident confidentiality requirements Strong organizational and data-entry skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Professional, dependable, and team-oriented Benefits Competitive pay Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance 401(k) Paid time off Training and professional growth opportunities Supportive leadership and a great team environment Rewarding work in a resident-centered setting
