SUPERVISOR BASIC FUNCTION
Assists the ambulatory care setting physician or other professional healthcare provider with the administration of direct and indirect patient care. Performs basic medical assisting procedures necessary to provide for care, comfort and safety of patients.

The duties recorded below are intended to accurately represent the duties of the class and are not intended to cover every single duty of the job. 1. Excellent customer service is a requirement of all medical assistants. 2. Actively demonstrates the organization's mission and core values, and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values. 3. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information. 4. Obtains vital information from the patient including but not limited to:
  • Vitals
  • EKG
  • PCMH
  • Huddles
  • Translation
  • Cleaning rooms
  • Sterilizing instruments
  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Vaccines & injections
  • In house laboratory procedures in some Clinics
  • Assist with procedures
  • Documents telephone calls in E.H.R.
  • Current HX 5.
Ability to navigate and use an electronic health record. 6. Consults with other members of the Health Care Team to ensure that services provided are according to the plan of care and are effective. 7. Knowledge and implementation of community-based, patient-centered medical home (PCMH) process with appropriate coordination of care.

Ensure effective Team Huddles. 8. Participation in daily team meetings, i.e. huddles with the clinician.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
(Cont.): 9. Provide interpretation of symptoms, explanations and questions of the patients who do not speak English and/or for the health professional who does not speak Spanish. Assists with patient's education, counseling, and examinations as needed. 10. Assists in scheduling appointments and referrals. 11. Provides a clean and, safe environment for patients and staff. Assists in having adequately stocked clinic including current sterile supplies and functioning emergency equipment. 12. Attends and participates in the Innercare in-service education program and external educational resources. Continues education through current journals, participation in workshops and in-service's. 13. Maintains current awareness and adherence to Innercare' policies and protocols as determined by administration. 14. Ensures patients access to health education, treatment education, psycho-social, nutrition and medical service providers-case management. 15. Provides all care and treatment coordination services for patients. 16. Other related duties as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
: Must have completed medical assistant program or course. Certified medical assistant program preferred but not required. Must have and maintain a current CPR card. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
: Knowledge in all types of physical examinations, Immunizations, DMV, Private Companies, etc. Knowledgeable with immunizations schedule. Able to perform vision and hearing tests, and HIV Counseling.
WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Not applicable-no assigned permanent staff to supervise.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Must be in good health and mental health. Must be responsible person, willing to accept and utilize constructive criticism. Ability and willingness to work irregular shifts, overtime and weekends. Standing and walking for long periods of time. Sitting, standing, and stooping occasionally. Help to lift up patients from exam tables. Good oral and writing communication. Subject to constant pressure and interruptions.
CONTACTS
: Supervisor, co-workers, physicians, other Innercare personnel, pharmacists, patients, vendors, hospital personnel, Health Department personnel, and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Worker risks exposure to odors, toxic/poisonous agents, communicable disease, pathogenic substances. Work is performed under stressful conditions. Must comply with the Innercare Corporate Program. HIPAA/Compliance Maintain privacy of all patient, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need to know basis for business purposes. Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations. Report unethical, fraudulent or unlawful behavior or activity.

$23.00 - $24.00 per hour
