Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Back Office Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will support clinical operations by managing administrative tasks, assisting with patient care processes, and ensuring smooth workflow within the medical office. Your proactive approach and strong organizational skills will contribute to delivering exceptional patient service and maintaining efficient clinic operations. Responsibilities Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories, vital signs, and updating electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) accurately. Assist medical providers with clinical tasks Manage medical documentation by ensuring accurate coding (ICD coding), record keeping, and maintaining comprehensive medical records in compliance with privacy regulations. Support front office staff with appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and insurance verification to streamline patient flow. Prepare exam rooms and assist with procedures like X-ray imaging or other diagnostic tests under supervision. Handle administrative duties including managing medical supplies inventory, and updating patient information in electronic health records. Skills Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical assisting techniques. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management to ensure accurate documentation and data retrieval. Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with diverse patient populations. Ability to perform clinical procedures such as vital signs collection, specimen collection (phlebotomy), and basic medication administration confidently. Familiarity with ICD coding standards for accurate diagnosis documentation and billing purposes.
