•This is the opportunity for you! We are privately owned and self-managed by our physicians who care about the success of their people. This position is primarily a Medical Assistant role and requires flexibility to assist with front office responsibilities as needed to support clinic operations.
Purpose:
Works closely with patients, physicians, and medical office staff to support our mission of providing the best care that patients deserve.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS ROLE
Manage prior authorizations, including submission, follow-up, and payer communication. Prepare exam rooms in orderly manner with necessary instruments and supplies. Capture relevant information about the patient's current health and healthcare. Prepare patients for examination by obtaining patient histories and vital signs. Communicate with patients by phone and email and loop in the physician when necessary. Phone in patient prescriptions and documents accordingly in patient chart. Attentive to patient's needs and coordination of care; document appropriately. Complete pathology call-backs/results in a timely manner. Handle prescription refill requests and other calls/voicemails promptly. Assist with successful patient recalls; follow-up to bring them back in when they are due for another appointment or procedure. Front office responsibilities as needed to support clinic operations. Able and willing to be cross trained to perform front office, scheduling and other duties, as needed. Other duties as assigned by the physician/office manager.
DESIRABLE QUALITIES IN A CANDIDATE
High school diploma, some college strongly preferred. Knowledge of EMR and AllScripts highly desirable. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, required. A sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted medical standards. Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand patient medical records, physician orders, and medication orders. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and function as a team-player.
