This position is responsible for maintaining accurate patient medical records, processing records requests, scanning and indexing documents into our electronic medical record (EMR) system, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. We are seeking someone who is organized, dependable, able to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and committed to maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of patient information. Responsibilities Scan and upload patient records into the EMR system. Maintain accurate electronic medical records. Process incoming medical records from hospitals, specialists, laboratories, and other healthcare facilities. Handle medical record requests from patients, providers, insurance companies, attorneys, and other authorized entities. Prepare records for audits, insurance reviews, and legal requests. Verify documentation is complete and accurately filed. Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times. Fax, mail, and securely transmit medical records as needed. Answer telephone inquiries related to medical records. Assist with administrative and clerical duties as assigned. Maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems. Collaborate with providers and office staff to ensure timely completion of documentation. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Previous medical office or healthcare experience preferred. Medical records experience preferred. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Knowledge of HIPAA regulations. Strong computer and data entry skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Professional communication and customer service skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of medical terminology. Experience with medical records release procedures.
