Job Description
Medical Assistant — Neurology & Pain Medicine We are a growing private neurology and pain medicine practice seeking an exceptional Medical Assistant to join our team. We are deliberately looking for more than someone who can room patients and take vital signs. We want someone who is reliable, sharp, attentive to detail, calm under pressure, and genuinely interested in patient care. This is a fast-paced medical practice where details matter. Our patients often have complex neurologic and pain conditions, and we take their care seriously. The right person will take pride in doing things correctly, notice when something doesn't look right, follow through without needing repeated reminders, and understand that every task ultimately affects a patient. What we're looking for Exceptional reliability and punctuality. If you are scheduled to work, the team and our patients need to be able to count on you. Strong attention to detail. Small mistakes in medicine can become big problems. We want someone who checks their work and doesn't cut corners. Ability to work under pressure. Some days are busy. Priorities can change quickly. You should be able to stay organized, professional, and composed. Initiative and ownership. We value people who see what needs to be done and do it rather than waiting to be asked. Excellent communication skills. You will interact closely with patients, physicians, pharmacies, and other members of the healthcare team. Genuine interest in medicine and patient care. We want someone who is curious, wants to learn, and cares about becoming excellent at what they do. Professionalism and maturity. We are a small team, which means every person has a meaningful impact on the practice. Responsibilities Responsibilities may include rooming patients, obtaining vitals and medication histories, preparing examination and procedure rooms, assisting with office procedures, handling patient messages and phone calls, coordinating prescriptions and prior authorizations, communicating with pharmacies, maintaining supplies and inventory, documenting accurately in the EMR, and helping keep the clinical day running efficiently. Because we specialize in neurology, migraine, and pain medicine, you will also have the opportunity to learn about neurologic examinations, migraine treatments, medications, injections, and office-based procedures. Who will thrive here You will probably love this position if you are the person who naturally catches mistakes other people miss, likes learning how and why things are done, takes pride in being dependable, and wants to become genuinely good at clinical medicine. You may not enjoy this position if you are looking for a job where you can simply clock in, complete a checklist, and clock out. We expect people to be engaged, accountable, and invested in the quality of the work they produce. Coachable and eager to improve. We have a lot to teach, and we do not expect anyone to know everything on day one. What we do expect is someone who is genuinely eager to learn, responds professionally to feedback and constructive criticism, and can adjust and improve without becoming defensive. The strongest members of our team ask questions, learn from mistakes, and continuously get better. A consistently professional attitude. We value maturity, respect, accountability, and a solution-oriented mindset. We are a small team working in a demanding clinical environment, so professionalism in how you communicate with patients, physicians, and coworkers is essential. Someone willing to go above and beyond. Our practice goes above and beyond for our patients, and we want team members who share that standard. That means taking ownership, following through, noticing what needs to be done, and occasionally doing more than the bare minimum because excellent patient care requires it. We don't expect you to know everything on day one. We can teach you our systems, clinical skills, neurology, migraine medicine, and how we approach patient care. What we cannot teach is reliability, curiosity, humility, work ethic, and the desire to become excellent at what you do. If you bring those qualities, there is a tremendous amount you can learn here. To apply Please submit your resume along with a short note (3-5 sentences) telling us: Why this position specifically interests you. What makes you an unusually strong future Medical Assistant. One example of a time you caught a mistake or problem before it became a bigger issue. Please do not send a generic cover letter. We actually read the responses. Applications without this note will not be reviewed. We are looking for someone who wants to become an important part of a growing practice — not simply fill a position.
