POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Supervising Clinical Provider, the RN/LPN/Paramedic/EMT/MA provides direct patient care, in the office setting and in the patient home as needed, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies and procedures of Island Doctors.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:- Interviews patients and triages each patient with a knowledgeable, confident and timely response.
- Records vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, and weight.
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination for patients. Ensures rooms are clean and well stocked with supplies.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments after each use.
- Inventories and orders medical supplies.
- Performs diagnostic testing such as EKG, Glucose test, INR, Urinalysis and Rapid Strep.
- Administer injections and IV treatments; draws blood for diagnostic testing.
- Calls prescriptions into the pharmacy and faxes refill requests back to the pharmacy once approved by the Clinical Provider.
- Assists patients over the phone in a timely and professional manner, maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Assists Front Office as needed by answering phones, filing charts, scheduling appointments, etc…
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ANDABILITIES
)- Active RN, LPN, Paramedic, EMT or RMA license required.
- BLS certification required.
- Able to manage difficult or emotional situations with patients and/or family members.
- 1 year of back office experience preferred.
- Friendly and compassionate disposition
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Dedication to maintaining confidentiality of all patient records
