What You'll Do The Team Lead - Medical Assistant is an experienced, hands-on Medical Assistant who serves as a resource to the clinical support team while continuing to perform regular Medical Assistant responsibilities. The Team Lead helps coordinate daily workflows, supports onboarding and training, reinforces established procedures, and assists team members with day-to-day questions and operational needs. This is a lead support position and does not have direct reports or formal supervisory responsibilities. Team Coordination & Staff Support Serve as a day-to-day resource and point of support for Medical Assistants. Help coordinate daily workflows, patient flow, assignments, provider needs, and clinical priorities. Assist with onboarding and hands-on training of new Medical Assistants. Reinforce established workflows, procedures, documentation expectations, and clinical standards. Provide peer guidance and support when questions or workflow challenges arise. Help track completion of clinical tasks, patient follow-up, and provider requests and communicate outstanding needs to the appropriate team member. Identify recurring errors, workflow concerns, training needs, or operational challenges and escalate them to the Office Manager or clinical leadership. Support implementation of new procedures, workflows, and operational changes. Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and effective communication across the clinical team. Clinical & Patient Care Support Perform patient intake and accurately document medical histories and clinical information. Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight. Assist providers with examinations, procedures, treatments, and continuity-of-care activities. Collect, prepare, and process blood and other specimens for laboratory testing. Perform point-of-care testing and other approved Medical Assistant procedures. Administer injections, medications, and other clinical support services as directed and permitted within the Medical Assistant's scope. Accurately and timely document patient information, results, and clinical activities within the EMR/EHR. Assist with patient scheduling, referrals, follow-up, medication coordination, and provider requests. Support chronic disease and continuity-of-care activities as directed by providers or licensed clinical staff. Provide clinical support at correctional facilities, community partner locations, and outreach programs as needed. Workflow, Quality & Operational Support Help ensure established clinical workflows, documentation requirements, and organizational procedures are consistently followed. Monitor patient schedules, outstanding tasks, laboratory processes, and follow-up needs and communicate concerns or delays appropriately. Reinforce proper specimen collection, labeling, processing, documentation, and transportation procedures. Help maintain appropriate medical supplies, testing materials, and equipment and communicate shortages or operational needs. Support compliance with HIPAA, infection-control practices, patient confidentiality, safety requirements, and organizational policies. Identify patient-care, documentation, workflow, or operational concerns and escalate them to the Office Manager or appropriate clinical leadership. Support an organized, professional, and efficient clinical environment. Collaborate with providers, Medical Assistants, clinical leadership, and the Office Manager to support daily operations and patient care. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy certification required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Minimum of 3 years of Medical Assistant or comparable clinical experience . Strong knowledge of patient intake, vital signs, specimen collection, clinical documentation, patient follow-up, and Medical Assistant workflows. Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) system. Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, or serve as a resource to other team members. Strong communication, organization, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational standards. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as required. Preferred Qualifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA). 3+ years of Medical Assistant experience. Previous Lead Medical Assistant, Senior Medical Assistant, or similar experience. Experience onboarding or training Medical Assistants. Primary care, community health, infectious disease, or correctional healthcare experience. Experience with phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing. Familiarity with HIV, STI, Hepatitis C, and chronic disease services. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Pay:
$26.00 - $29.00 per hour
