Medical Assistant / Patient Service Representative Nova Medica LLC - Jacksonville, Florida Full-Time | Urgent Care / Outpatient Medical Office Job Overview Nova Medica LLC is seeking dependable, compassionate, and motivated Medical Assistants to join our growing healthcare team in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a cross-trained position that will primarily support clinical patient care while also assisting with front desk and Patient Service Representative (PSR) responsibilities as needed. We are looking for team members who are comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment and are willing to assist wherever needed to provide an excellent patient experience. Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly preferred, and bilingual ability will be required for some available positions. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, patient-focused, and comfortable balancing both clinical and administrative responsibilities. Clinical Responsibilities Greet patients professionally and assist with the patient intake process Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, and reason for visit Prepare patients and examination rooms for provider visits Perform EKGs Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection Assist with laboratory testing and proper specimen handling Assist providers with examinations and minor procedures as appropriate Administer medications and injections when permitted by training, office policy, and applicable regulations Maintain appropriate infection-control and clinical safety standards Clean, stock, and prepare examination rooms Accurately document clinical information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Communicate patient information appropriately to providers and other members of the healthcare team Assist with additional clinical duties necessary for the efficient operation of an urgent care practice Front Desk / Patient Service Responsibilities All Medical Assistants will be cross-trained to assist with front-office operations, including: Patient check-in and check-out Answering and routing telephone calls Scheduling appointments Verifying patient demographics and insurance information Collecting copays, deductibles, and patient balances when applicable Scanning and uploading documents into the patient's medical record Assisting with insurance eligibility and basic benefit verification Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence Communicating professionally with patients, providers, pharmacies, insurance companies, and outside facilities Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA requirements Assisting with patient flow during high-volume periods Qualifications Previous Medical Assistant or medical office experience preferred Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred and required for select positions Experience with vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection preferred Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures Experience using an Electronic Medical Record/Electronic Health Record system eClinicalWorks experience is a plus Current BLS/CPR certification preferred Medical Assistant certification is preferred but may not be required depending on experience and qualifications Strong computer and documentation skills Excellent communication and patient-service skills Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced urgent care environment Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team Willingness to be cross-trained and assist with both clinical and front-office responsibilities What We're Looking For We are looking for team members who understand that exceptional patient care begins from the moment a patient walks through the door.
